“I don’t sing because I’m happy; I’m happy because I sing”
-William James
Welcome to The Studio!
My Teaching Philosophy
is based around you discovering all that your natural voice can do.
Whether you are working towards a specific goal, preparing for an audition, or are looking to improve your technical knowledge over the long-term, I am ready to work with you!
Styles I focus on include musical theatre, classical, pop, voice acting, and folk, but any genre can benefit from lessons. I have a degree in classical voice, and finished up a diploma in musical theatre in spring of 2025 - I am always looking to learn more about the voice myself!
Visit the “Lessons and Pricing” page for more information, and contact me at lynnea@the-voice-studio.ca. I can’t wait to make music with you!
General Information
I run The Voice Studio out of my home. My teaching area is separated from the rest of the house, but be aware that I do live with my husband who may also be home at the time of your lesson; you may occasionally hear some background noise.
Online lessons are completed via Skype or Facetime; I find these two platforms to have the highest sound quality. I’ll instruct you on how to connect online upon arranging our lesson.
Mutual Respect Policy
The Studio is a safe space for people from any and all walks of life; I strive to create an environment that is welcoming and conducive to joyful and creative music-making. I have an ‘open-door’ approach to receiving feedback where I always welcome students to inform me if I use language that is offensive to them, regardless of my intent, and although I never expect perfection, I do expect the same respect from my students. Abusive language or behaviour towards any other person is NEVER tolerated; any student who exhibits this kind of behaviour will have their lesson ended and will not be refunded.
Studio Etiquette
What to bring to your lesson:
Your music if you have it!
A secondary device to play an accompaniment track (if accessible to you)
A pencil/ eraser and something to take notes
A water bottle and straw
Supportive shoes (optional)
Please be ready for your lesson 5 minutes ahead of time whenever possible, as I do the same.
Recordings
Recordings of your lessons are encouraged; it can be a very useful tool to listen back to yourself!
Any photos or recordings taken of lessons, recitals, and/ or other performances that take place in the Studio or online (including posts on social media) may ONLY be used with explicit permission in writing from Lynnéa. If you wish to post or share something, please send me an email or text requesting permission. Generally, anytime you share something I will request that you tag The Voice Studio in the post.
I may also ask to record portions of your lessons/ recitals/ performances to be used in promotional materials for the studio. I will always let you know if I will be recording something for promotional purposes. If you wish to never have your image used in any promotional material, let me know and I will not use your image.
Parents: Can I watch my child’s lesson?
Absolutely! I generally ask that when parents would like to observe lessons with their child that they take a “fly on the wall” approach, and save questions or additional comments for the end of the lesson. I will take time at the end of the lesson to touch base with you to see what questions you may have.
Sick Policy
If you are under the weather in a way that is contagious (cold, flu, etc.), please take the time that you need to rest and recover. We can modify to an online lesson if need be, but remember that your voice is part of your body and needs to rest and recover along with the rest of you! Singing on swollen vocal folds can also be damaging, and you won’t sound the way you want to. See cancellation policy below for missed lessons because of illness.
Cancellations
If you need to cancel a lesson which is paid for at least 24 hours ahead of time, your credit for that lesson will be carried forward into the next month or we will reschedule the lesson for another day within the same month. Credit will not be refunded.
If you cancel a lesson day-of due to illness, we will reschedule the lesson for another day within the same month or your credit for that lesson will be carried forward into the next month. Credit will not be refunded.
If you cancel a lesson day-of, your credit for that day will not be carried forward or refunded.
If I need to cancel a lesson for you (due to illness or emergency,), we will reschedule your lesson for another day within the same month or your credit will be carried forward into the next month or your credit will be refunded.
If you are asked to leave due to breach of mutual respect policy, your credit will not be refunded, and your lesson will not be rescheduled.

Payment for recurring lessons is due at the first lesson of the month, unless otherwise pre-arranged. Payment for occasional/ sporadic lessons are due at the beginning of each lesson.
