Lessons at the Studio*

For the Love of your Voice!

When is the last time you allowed yourself to freely sing without self-judgement? If you’re anything like I was when I started vocal lessons, you may believe a lot of misconceptions about what it takes to be a “good singer” without realizing it. My philosophy is that there are no ‘bad’ sounds when it comes to singing; while some sounds are less healthy and may contribute to vocal fatigue (or at worst, damage with long-term misuse), the vast majority of the sounds we make are useful and appropriate in different styles - there’s no need to strive for perfection where it doesn’t exist! Wherever you are coming from, I strive at the studio to make you more aware of how your voice behaves at its core without judgement, so that you can be free to play and experiment with your own instrument, and gain the technique to tell great stories through singing. At the end of the day - no-one knows your voice better than you!

Singing is also only one piece of the puzzle; if you are interested in voice acting, lessons are for you too! If you have an interest in podcasting, streaming, or voice acting itself, my goal is the same; for you to come to play and discover everything that your voice can do!

I primarily take an approach to teaching that is based on an understanding of anatomy first so that students learn to understand exactly what is happening when we sing. With that being said, lessons with my students are adapted to their preferred learning styles as much as possible. If you, or your child, prefer direct, technical feedback, that is what I will provide. If you love to experiment and identify with metaphors or analogies, I will work to ensure that we spend lots of time exploring those vocal strategies. We will work together over the course of your lessons to come up with the best way for you to become better acquainted with your voice!

Your first Lesson is 50% Off

Your first time at the studio* will be a half-priced session for 30 minutes ($15) First, we will spend the first 5-10 minutes reviewing the Studio policies. Then, we will spend a few minutes discussing your goals - whatever brings you into the Studio, I want to know! The remainder of your time will be a regular lesson. There is no additional commitment necessary for this first lesson (or any lessons for that matter - I book week to week so there is no long-term commitment necessary!).
